THE HOTEL AND ITS SURROUNDINGS

TY MAD, the perfect starting point to discover one of the most beautiful areas of Finistère (everything begins here!).
A few exploration ideas…

AT THE FOOT OF THE HOTEL

TY MAD overlooks St. Jean beach and the coastal path that connects to Sables Blancs beach, the Thalasso, and the tennis club in five minutes. The view of Douarnenez Bay is stunning.

After the beach, you can quickly access the famous customs path, GR 34, which allows for hiking along all of Brittany’s coastlines.

NEAR THE HOTEL

In Tréboul, you can quickly reach the marina and the sailing center on foot. There are many marine activities to enjoy (sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding, kayaking, boat outings, boat rentals …). You can also dine and shop at the Wednesday and Saturday markets, as well as in the local shops in the area. During the season, it’s possible to board the shuttle boat to the old port of Douarnenez.

DOUARNENEZ,
« THE NEW ST. TROPEZ »

According to ELLE magazine, in May 2024, Douarnenez is deemed “a trendier destination than ever.” Indeed, one can wander through this multifaceted town. With its three ports, its winding streets around the old port and market halls, its fishermen’s houses, beautiful churches, artists’ workshops, small restaurants, and numerous bars with sunny terraces, along with the Plomar’ch path leading to the old washhouse and Roman ruins … all of this is accessible by foot, just a half hour from TY MAD.

OUR MUST-HAVES

TY MAD is located about 35 minutes by car from the two major sites of Finistère: Pointe du Raz and the Crozon peninsula, which is part of the Armorique regional natural park and the Iroise Marine Nature Park. After Crozon, one can venture to the Monts d’Arrée. A guaranteed spectacle! The Audierne Bay (which ends at the famous Eckmühl lighthouse) boasts incomparable surf spots (the Bay of the Dead and the vast beach of La Torche) and Audierne (Esquibien), the embarkation point for the mythical island of Sein. Of course, you can hike for hours along the coast or inland, marveling and breathing the sea air, and also swim in the crystal-clear waters of the coves.

CITIES AND CULTURE

One cannot miss the charming small towns and villages, such as LOCRONAN, a village classified as a historical monument, QUIMPER, with its old streets, its cathedral, its museums… PONT-L’ABBÉ, the capital of the Bigoudin region, PONT-CROIX, on the banks of the Goyen estuary. And further away, of course, the famous coastal towns SAINTE-MARINE, BENODET, PONT-AVEN, CONCARNEAU, which gives access to the Glenan islands… Brest, the major port city undergoing transformation. … and along the way, in every village, delightful chapels!

BIKE RENTALS

At the Tréboul marina just a stone’s throw from the hotel, Velonova offers a wide selection of bicycles and electric bikes.
